Virtual visiting – video calls: The option to use a hospital device is for those patients who do not have access to their own phone or tablet. This service is limited with new slots loaded regularly, but free WiFi is available throughout the hospital and relatives are encouraged to contact patients on their personal devices if possible.
To book a video call with your relative in YDH, please use the form below to select a date and time. These calls will last up to 20 minutes and you will be reminded 5 minutes before the end of the call that it is about to finish.
To use this service please note that you will require a mobile device which has the WhatsApp application installed on it and to provide the mobile number for this device.
Before booking this video call please ensure you know which Ward your relative is on – if you do not know this, please call 01935 475122.
This call will be facilitated by a volunteer who will be present throughout the call and your contact details will not be stored at all on any YDH devices.
If your relative is due to be off the ward during the appointment time you select you will be contacted on the number you give below and your appointment rearranged.
If you would like to book a repeat appointment please come back to this page as the number you are called from will not be available for incoming calls or text messages.
Inpatient video calls can be booked up to 3 (but not less than 1) days in advance.
Please note we will not be able to update you on your relative’s care during this call.
